We proudly service the following types of customers

Our client base consists of numerous people from different backgrounds and industries. You’ll surely find yourself within any of our typical customer categories.

Homes

Residential houses use our recycling bins to make sure all their non-biodegradable wastes are taken care of and not just dumped in a landfill but in a recycling facility that puts them to another use.

Office and Retail Buildings

Compared to houses, office and retail buildings have a more considerable amount of waste, that’s why we need a container bigger than a bin. Recycling dumpsters are usually used for buildings where one or more businesses dump their waste on a daily basis. This way, we take care not just of one person’s recyclable materials but that of dozens or even thousands of people.

Nowadays, companies are encouraged by green movements to do their part in recycling and putting bins in their offices. Since dozens of people throw all sorts of thrash every day, these bins will collect considerable amounts of recyclable materials that are then deposited into recycling dumpsters and transported to our facilities. When offices and retail buildings implement recycling programs, they are contributing to the betterment of our environment.

Transportation facilities

Thousands or even millions of people pass through transportation facilities every day, week or month. They leave all sorts of the trash whenever they come and go. That’s why it’s important to have recycling bins in these facilities—to better segregate them and allow these materials to be recycled and repurposed in a faster and more efficient way.

Gas stations

Gas stations are hubs for all kinds of people, from travellers to locals and everyone in between. This means tons of garbage is disposed of every day. If not taken care of, this can result in a dirty location that is bad not just for nature but also for their business.

Nowadays, having recyclable bins is a must and you’ll often see them in gas stations. They are normally divided into three categories namely, plastics, biodegradable and paper. We pick up the plastic and paper bins and transport them to our recycling facilities while the biodegradable ones are transported and processed in a different location.

Construction sites

Due to the nature of work done in these locations, construction sites dispose of a wide variety of wastes. As a solution to their waste management and recycling problem, we provide them with huge temporary recycling dumpsters where metals, steels and other recyclable materials used in construction are dumped and delivered to processing facilities.

Shopping centres

Malls and shopping centres are some of the most major waste producers today. With more than a dozen stores dumping all sorts of trash every day, they are also one of our main sources of recyclable materials. Every day during our scheduled pickups, we collect tons of garbage and materials from these sites and deliver them to our materials recovery facilities or MRFs.

It is vital for places that accommodate a large number of people on a daily basis to have recycling bins. After all, these people who frequent malls and shopping centres have a ton of garbage to dispose of.

When these structures implement a proper recycling program, they help not just our staff here at Can Pak Environmental Inc. for segregating materials ahead of time but most importantly, mother nature for not disposing tons of their garbage on landfills or river streams.

Schools and universities

As places of teaching and development, it’s important that schools and universities have recycling bins so they can cultivate environmentally conscious behaviour in students. Teaching the value of reducing, reusing and recycling in these institutions is paramount in driving a greener initiative that leads to a more sustainable future.

To cater to a larger area with a scattered demographic, we offer smaller recycling bins that can be placed all over school campuses. This way, no matter where students may be, there will always be a recycling bin where they can throw away their trash.

For schools and universities, we have three bins separated by paper, biodegradable and plastic. So before they dispose of their garbage, students and staff need to think twice about where to put them.

Theatres and stadiums

Big sports and entertainment venues such as theatres and stadiums hold thousands or even millions of people in a day. As a result, a lot of waste is disposed of on a daily and weekly basis. One concert alone produces tons of garbage with its wide audience. With their considerable number of sitting and standing capacity, it’s important for theatres and stadiums to have proper waste management and recycling systems to make sure that all their garbage is disposed of in a proper way.

How the recycling process works

We’re letting you in on the recycling process we implement here at Can Pak Environmental Inc. Follow the steps below to find out how your recycled materials are given a second life and where they go once you’ve discarded them.

  1. Collected materials are dumped on our material recovery facilities

Once our trucks have collected all recyclable materials, they go to our material recovery facilities or MRF and dump the contents there. This is where the sorting process begins.

  1. Segregated by sorting machines

After all the contents of the truck are dumped, a skid steer or loader pushes all the materials onto the first conveyor belt to the pre-sort room. Here, all non-recyclable materials that were mistakenly put on the bin are picked up and separated to make sure the recyclables are not contaminated.

Cardboards and paper are sorted first as they go through levels of spinning discs while heavier materials drop to a conveyor belt at the bottom. Glass bottles then go to the bottle breaker which, as its name suggests, breaks bottles into smaller pieces. They need to be 5cm in size to be considered finished. They are also separated by colour namely, clear, brown and green.

Afterwards, the rest of the recyclables pass through a cross-belt magnet where iron-containing metals are separated, crushed and compressed together.

Aluminium materials are separated from plastics through the Eddy Current Separator where a special magnetic field is created for aluminium. After being sorted, these tin cans are crushed and compressed just like the other materials made out of metal.

  1. Compressed into bales for shipping

After all the different types of recyclable wastes namely papers, metals, aluminium, glass and plastics, are sorted and properly segregated, they are compressed into big blocks that are then sold to companies who can turn them into new materials. These blocks are now considered raw materials that can then be used in making new products. Through the recycling process, we are able to lessen the amount of garbage polluting the planet that can otherwise be given a new purpose.

Things that do not go into the recycling bin

When throwing out materials into your recycling bin, be mindful of including items that are not recyclable such as:

  • Soiled paper

Paper and cardboards used in food packaging cannot be recycled and should therefore be thrown away in the garbage instead of the recycling bin. This includes coffee cups and pizza boxes.

  • Plastic bags

Plastic bags used in grocery stores are harmful not just to the environment but also to our sorting machines here at Can Pak Environmental Inc. Instead of throwing plastic bags into the recycling bin, you can reuse them when you’re going out or taking out the trash.

  • Organic materials

This one should be obvious. Decaying materials such as food and produce should never be put in the recycling bin. They contaminate the recyclables and lessen their value. Instead of throwing them away in the trash, you can use organic and biodegradable materials as compost. Use them as fertilizer to your plants and let them decompose naturally.

  • Electronics, batteries and lightbulbs

Electronic wastes should be disposed of properly and not put in recycling bins. These contain toxic chemicals that are harmful to the environment and to those who come in contact with it.

Putting these into your bins will only make it harder for us to recycle your materials and they can also cause hazardous malfunctions in the MRF. When throwing out recyclables, think of the employees that can be affected by throwing a single grocery bag. After all, why throw something that can be reused? Try the reduce, reuse and recycle lifestyle so you can effectively help mother nature recuperate from the damages we’ve done to the environment.
